Emma is interested in sustainable engineering and improving energy systems to better benefit people and the world. Entering her third year, Emma is continuing on the project exploring how nanostructured surfaces perform to increase heat dissipation performance for a variety of applications. She is currently participating in a US-China grant to reduce water usage at power plants. The focus is on effecting coatings for condensers to lower the water need and water loss of spray cooling.
Outside of school Emma enjoys Scottish Highland Dancing, playing with her cat, and finding new places to eat. She hopes to get a chance to start hiking more in Berkeley and improving her cooking!
